The world does not see the reality and power of the living God, and the necessity of coming to Him. Personal sin, guilt and shame, peer pressure, and ignorance of the truth keeps people from walking with God. How is it that people, under the power and influence of this world and the sins of the flesh, would come to know the power and caring love of God? How will “the Families of the Nations Worship the Lord”? (Psalm 22:27) The servant of God would suffer to bring His people back into worship. His victory came through His suffering, where He defeated His enemies and won the hearts of the nations back to God. How does suffering bring people from separation from God to worship of God? That is what our passage is about, and points us to the work of Jesus and our own role in God’s plans for the nations.
