“The Son of Promise”

Have you ever had to wait a long time to see the fulfillment of a dream? If so, you can imagine the experience of Abraham and Sarah in the birth of their longanticipated child Isaac. You might also be able to imagine the conflict it would create as Isaac took his place as Abraham’s heir, instead of 13 year old Ishmael. But for us, this account provides a metaphor to help us better understand our faith and how to live in the grace of God.
