"And so, from the day we heard, we have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God. May you be strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy, giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in light." (Colossians 1:9-12 ESV)

Mission Statement:

Women’s Ministry at New Life in Christ Church furthers the mission of New Life in Christ Church to “Build the Kingdom through Training Leaders”. The Women’s Ministry Council serves under the oversight of the Session and seeks especially to serve the elders by providing discipleship ministries aimed at the spiritual growth of women. Our purpose is to foster unity and community in the church and further the gospel of Christ by communicating and encouraging discipleship, fellowship, service and leadership opportunities to and for women.

Vision Statement:

The vision of the New Life in Christ Women’s Ministry is to assist the Session in providing nurturing and unifying fellowship and discipleship opportunities for women. Women have unique gifts of community and service that flourish when they are in fellowship with one another that in turn affect the whole church. Women’s events - such as Bible studies, meals, retreats and conferences - provide a welcoming, safe, and nurturing environment for women to find acceptance in the body of Christ and have the opportunity to grow in response to the gospel of Christ. Within the covenant community, this fellowship can lead to discipleship relationships and the realization of each woman’s God-given gifts. Women of all ages can encourage one another to respond to their calling as followers of Christ and to grow spiritually, leading to service and ministry to the covenant community and the world. The Women’s Ministry Council therefore serves to assist the Session in these endeavors to the glory of God and the building of His Kingdom.

The New Life in Christ Church’s Session has appointed Sharon Leaman, Pam Lopes and Heather O’Hara to serve on the Women’s Ministry Council. You may contact them by joining the Women’s Ministry Group and sending a message or by emailing womenflourish.nlicc@gmail.com. A Women’s Ministry Update is emailed to all Women’s Ministry Group members every Friday.

Our main method of communicating current women’s events, Bible studies, and service opportunities is through a weekly email sent out each Friday morning. Join the Women’s Ministry group to receive the updates.

Women's Breakfasts held are on the 4th Saturday of each month from 8:30-10:15am in the Fireside Room, adjacent to the sanctuary.

The breakfast is our regular corporate gathering as women of New Life in Christ Church to share a meal, receive good teaching, and hear testimonies of God’s faithfulness. A lighthearted door prize drawing and optional craft afterwards bring levity and fun.

We encourage all women of the church to come. If breakfast is not your thing or 8:30am is too early, you may arrive at 9:00am for the program.

Details are found in the Weekly Women’s Ministry Update.

Our “Growing in Grace” groups are a primary church-wide women’s discipleship ministry that seeks to encourage women through biblical friendships which focus on God’s Word and prayer. Groups, led our women, meet monthly in homes to share a meal, reflect together on Scripture and pray for one another.

Signups are in August each year and groups meet monthly September through April or May. There are groups in various parts of town and a variety of times of the week to choose from. All women are encouraged to join a group.

Sign up details will be in the August emails of the Weekly Women’s Ministry Update.

Our church values the study of God’s Word in small groups. We provide several Women’s Bible studies or book studies that meet at the church and in homes on a weekly or bi-monthly schedule.

Details on our current and upcoming studies are available in the Weekly Women’s Ministry Update or the church calendar.

MOTs is a group for mothers with young children who desire to be in a covenant community of like-minded sisters as they seek to raise their children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. The group is assigned a leader as well as older mentor moms to share a Bible study. It is a wonderful time of fellowship and an opportunity to build life-long friendships. Invite a mom friend to come along!

MOTs meets the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays from 10-11:30AM at the church with childcare and has a GroupMe to schedule outings, playdates and activities and to give one another prayer support and encouragement.

If you are interested in joining MOTS, sign up for the Women’s Ministry group to receive the Weekly Women’s Ministry Update on Friday with details on how to join the GroupMe.

Pioneer Girls is a discipleship ministry for girls from the ages of four to eighteen that seeks to teach girls to follow God in every aspect of their lives and to live covenantally in the Church. Through this ministry, our women disciple girls through Bible study, friendships, and skills that equip them to better love God and love their community. In addition to meeting weekly, girls participate in various events, such as tea parties, bonfires, father-daughter breakfasts, and missions events.

The women of New Life in Christ Church gather twice a year in joyful anticipation to celebrate and pray for our expectant mothers and the upcoming births of covenant children. These prayer showers are open to all women in the church, and our primary focus is to envelope these new arrivals and their mothers in the loving prayers of our covenant community. It is a special time in the life of our church family.

We encourage our care groups to plan and host baby showers for first babies, including foster or adopted children, that are open to the women of the church. These showers are advertised in the Weekly Women’s Ministry Update. Typically, “Baby Sprinkles” (showers for babies plus) are organized by friends and are by invite only.

Details for Prayer Showers can be found in the Weekly Women’s Ministry Update or the church calendar as they are scheduled.

Other regular opportunities exist for women to gather, be discipled, learn something new or simply encourage one another. Activities and details will be shared in the Weekly Women’s Ministry Update and show up on the church calendar.  There is a three-year rotation of our largest special Women’s Ministry events:

  • Mini-Conferences are like mini-retreats held at church. Usually consists of a Friday evening and Saturday, morning to mid-afternoon. (Scheduled for Winter 2026)
  • "Talents to Treasure" is a fun opportunity to learn something new and meet new people! Women and teens sign up for three different classes taught by different women in the church. Past classes have included gardening, alcohol ink painting, cookie decorating, embroidery and homemade household cleaning supplies. The classes are followed by lunch.
  • Retreats are an opportunity to get away and be fed spiritually in a beautiful setting through rich biblical teaching and the sharing of testimonies. Usually retreats last from Friday evening to Sunday morning and alternate between the mountains and beach.

Activities and details will be shared in the Weekly Women’s Ministry Update and show up on the church calendar.

Counseling for women is available through New Life in Christ Church to assist women in applying God’s Word to the problems they face. Women who desire to meet one-on-one in a more formal counseling session can meet with a trained Biblical Counselor.

*The Nature, Goal and Method of Biblical Counseling

Biblical counseling is the personal discipleship ministry of God’s people to others under the oversight of God’s church, dependent upon the authority and sufficiency of God’s Word through the work of the Holy Spirit.

Biblical counseling seeks to reorient disordered desires, affections, and behaviors toward a God-designed anthropology in an effort to restore true worship of God and right fellowship with others.

This is accomplished by speaking the truth in love and applying Scripture to the need of the moment by comforting the suffering and calling sinners to repentance thus working to make them mature as they abide in Jesus Christ.  If you are seeking a counselor, contact Pam Lopes at hopeforchangeva@gmail.com

Pam will direct you to someone that can assist you.
